The Victorian Guard Sampler Pack contains two fully modular figures, one male and one female Victorian Guard. Here's who it suits and when to choose a full squad instead.
Quick answer
The Victorian Guard Sampler Pack gives you two fully modular figures, a male and a female Victorian Guard. Buy it if you want to try Grimdark Empire miniatures or test a color scheme before committing to a larger guard squad.
What two modular figures actually let you test
A sampler is not a squad. Two figures give you enough components to check scale, assembly fit, and how your chosen colors read on the Victorian Guard silhouette, but they will not fill a regiment-sized project on their own. Treat the pack as a trial run: build both figures, paint one to completion, and judge the result before expanding.
Because both figures are fully modular, you can compare a male and a female build side by side. That matters if you plan a mixed guard squad later, since you can confirm that your paint scheme and basing style work across both body types before buying more.
The trade-off: variety now versus unit size later
The obvious limitation is unit size. If your goal is a playable guard squad for a game, two figures are a paint test, not a finished unit. The sampler makes most sense when you already know you like the Victorian Guard look and want a low-risk way to confirm it in your own hands.
The catalog does not list the pack's frame layout, weapon options, or base sizes, so check those details before assuming the sampler matches a full squad's build options. If exact loadout compatibility matters for your project, confirm it before treating the sampler as a preview of the whole range.
Where the sampler fits in a starter plan
For a Victorian miniatures starter set, the sampler works best as step one of a larger plan rather than the whole plan. Paint both figures, note which colors and techniques you liked, then decide whether to expand into a guard squad buying guide path with more bodies. This order avoids buying a full regiment before you have tested your scheme.
If you already own a guard squad and only need more variety, the sampler adds two distinct figures without duplicating a full unit. If you are starting from zero and want a complete unit, budget for additional figures from the start.
Decision rules for buying the sampler
- Choose the sampler if you are new to Grimdark Empire minis: Buy it when you want a low-commitment way to try the Victorian Guard style and confirm scale and detail in person before expanding. Set a painting deadline for both figures so the trial does not stall.
- Choose the sampler if you are testing a color scheme: Use the male and female figures to compare how your planned colors read across both body types, then apply the result to a full squad. Record the exact paints and steps you used so you can repeat them later.
- Skip the sampler if you need a playable unit now: Two figures will not fill a guard squad. If your project needs a complete unit, plan for additional figures instead of relying on the sampler alone. Count the figures your rules require before ordering.
- Skip the sampler if exact loadout compatibility is critical: The catalog does not list frame layout or weapon options. If your project depends on specific builds, confirm those details before buying. Ask about frame contents if you need a specific configuration.
